A Second Time Around

We did it! We survived a second sleep study!

When we walked in the office to the Sleep Center, Jacob knew what was coming. He didn't want to walk down the hall. We had the same room as last time, which was nice. Jacob asked to watch "Nemo" again, so off the tech went to find it. After a few minutes, she returned and said one of the other techs had taken the videos home, but she sent someone out to buy it! Jacob must have been awfully cute :)

He cooperated pretty well for the electrodes to be attached. Unfortunately, it was after 10:00 before he fell asleep. Kendra, our tech, was able to get the nose piece on him after he fell asleep. He moved more last night than he had for the first sleep study. At about 20 'til 12, he started fussing and fighting the cords. He was semi-conscious and ended up sleeping while sitting up (without a prop-up) for about 45 minutes to an hour. He would start to fall, catch his balance and doze off again! Mommy couldn't sleep during that because I was too afraid he'd fall out of bed! Part of the time he snuggled up to me and he slept better when he would do that, but I'd feel some small jerks in his body.

Overall, we survived. He had a ton of goop in his hair since the electrodes kept coming off during the night and Kendra had to come in several times to reattach them. Thankfully, she didn't use the "cover-all" tape this time. Jacob's face is still reddened in certain spots, but not so much as last time. Here's another shot of him being hooked up (doesn't look quite as bad this time because there wasn't as much tape).

These next shots show the after-effects of the tape this time. It's much better, but I still feel bad for him! The first is much cuter than the second, but the worst of the redness is on his chin.
