Chicken Pox

It looks like we've been hit with the chicken pox. Thankfully, though, we know it just looks like it. Jacob had his allergy testing today. The little guy was a trooper. All those pricks on his back just to find out he's not allergic to anything they tested for! his back has lots of little red bumps on it that really look like pre-scab chicken pox.

It's good he's not allergic to things, but what is complicating his sleep apnea so much? The allergist thinks he could have chronic rhinosinusitis. Basically, we haven't been killing off all the bacteria over time in his sinuses, so they could be full of gunk. We're going heavy on a coarse of medicines to hopefully wipe out anything there and see how we do after that.

Both kids had their annual checkups today. Overall, Becca is doing great. Jacob is doing pretty well, too, except for the heart murmur she's heard the last year and a half. He had an echocardiogram last December which indicated it was a flow murmur. She said, today, that it's not acting like a typical flow murmur. I asked if the apnea could be causing problems and she said she's not seen that happen outside of kids with sydromes such as Down's but it's not entirely impossible. We're going to run another echocardiogram to make sure his heart isn't being stressed. The ped's office is scheduling it for us, so we don't know for sure when that will be - just before the end of the year.

If I get the pox picture loaded, I'll try to get it posted. Don't count on it, though. I usually forget! :)
