It's been a while

It has been quite some time since I've updated this blog. There's probably no one even checking to see if it's been updated anymore! Perhaps you need to leave me a not just to say you still check it! :) Several things have been going on since I last posted.

I've been keeping extremely busy at work. Both of my major projects are in full gear with a couple little ones nagging at my side. I am doing okay with it at work, for the most part, but I've been completely exhausted at home. It didn't help that I didn't take any vacation days over the holidays (by my choice). I just might need to take a couple days as soon as I get a chance.

Several people have asked me recently how Jacob is doing. It's so hard to say. He wakes up a couple times a night, calling for me. I don't know what causes him to wake up. His excessive movements aren't nearly as bad as they were, but I have no way to really tell how his apnea is doing. As far as the CPAP is going, it's not really. Jacob has been very congested lately and thrown up on a few different occasions. It's increases the difficulty in breathing greatly when he is congested. I've also been having a hard time myself and needing sleep. I can't stay up to manage the machine with how tired I've been. If you will, please pray for strength and endurance for me.

I'm still not satisfied with the treatment plan of the CPAP. I don't feel it's going to be adequate for him if we can't get him to wear it. As such, we've been in contact with Cincinnati Children's Hospital for a second opinion. The doctor there was to look over his information yesterday and we should be getting some information to schedule an office visit sometime this week. I'm not looking forward to driving clear to Cincy for one or more visits, but if we can get answers, it will be worth it. Cincinnati is one of the top 5 children's hospitals and has a very extensive sleep disorder center.

Matt is keeping busy with work. He's also in charge of the local missions team at our church. They'll be ramping up again for this year's projects here very soon. He's been working hard at getting his exercise room all put together and helping me with various things around the house.

Becca is doing really well in Kindergarten. Her teacher told me that the math papers she's bringing home are 2nd grade work and she's getting 100% on them! :) Go Becca! We know where you get those math skills :) With all the brain cells I've lost with the births of the two kids, I've likely not got the ability to do that 2nd grade math!

I'm planning to head to the Dominican Republic again this summer. The trip dates will be July 7-14. Please pray that our audiology materials once again come together as well as the medical supplies and team members.

From our home to yours, Happy 2009!

Hey girl -- I still check your blog (I haven't been updating mine lately either--it keeps getting pushed off)
Glad work is going well - I'll be praying for your energy levels!
Praying for Jacob as well as for the docs and you and Matt -- hopefully answers will come soon!!
