It was off on a road trip for Becca and me today. We left Daddy and Jacob home and headed for the Blueberry Festival in Plymouth, IN. This was the first time we'd ever been there. Let me just tell you, that thing is massive! Much larger than the festivals in Fort Wayne (in my opinion!) It was very hot, but I think we made it through the majority it. It's hard to say as we were nearly lost and not sure how to get back to the van. Once we finally found the tram stop for the ride back to parking lot, we had to wait several minutes for the next tram. Thankfully, there was room for us on that one! Well, we were initially thankful, but it turned into an adventure!
We actually boarded at the first stop, so it was going to be a little while before we'd make it to the parking lot. No big deal. Becca was having fun. Well, the ticket-takers became a bit confused when we didn't turn around at the usual spot, we kept going forward instead of turning. After a few seconds we realized the tractor needed to refuel - whew! We weren't on a runaway tram! :) However, our adventure was only beginning. Once the refueling was done, the tractor driver began to back up. Mind you, he had 3 tram cars behind him that weren't going straight back or turning the right way. Along side to our right, were several parked cars which we were attempting to avoid. After several back-ups and forward moves, he thought he was back far enough to go ahead and pull around and do a u-turn. Well, no, he wasn't. A few workers grabbed an accessory piece to a tractor and moved it out of the way. Then, we started moving. My biggest fear was that we were going to jack-knife and we'd be landing on the side I was on. Nope, that's not what happened. No longer was anyone other than passengers watching the parked cars along our right side. All of a sudden we heard screams and scrapes. Yep, that's right! We caught the hitch on an SUV. Reports were that we moved the SUV 2 feet! This was Becca's first accident! They ended up getting everyone off the third tram that was stuck on the hitch and loading them in the front two. The owner of the vehicle was just getting there as we pulled away. It was crazy!
So part of the craziness of this situation is that we saw an accident in our church parking lot this morning. A teenager was going a bit too fast when he parked his massive SUV and ran into the minivan in the next parking space. We didn't see, but heard, the initial impact and then saw as he backed away from it. The van just kinda bounced a bit when he pulled back. He wasn't sure what to do, but another family had seen it happen and stopped to help.
Boy 2 accidents in 1 day! I took pics of the tram accident. I'll have to try to post them later.
Hope your day hasn't been quite so adventurous!

You are a trooper -- going to Plymouth all by yourself!!!!! How fun it must have been for you and Becca though to be able to have some mommy-daughter bonding!
Thankfully you weren't involved in any of those accidents!!!!
